Tika Sumpter in “My Man Is A Loser” [TRAILER]

A new film being released by Lionsgate  written and directed by Mike Young and stars Tika Sumpter, John Stamos, Michael Rapaport and Bryan Callen. The movie’s plot  surrounds two married friends, Marty (Michael Rapaport) and Paul (Bryan Callen), who hire their single playboy friend Mike (John Stamos) to “help them get their mojo back” in order to save their marriages. Their plan backfires, leaving their wives unimpressed with their new personalities.

“My Man Is A Loser”  hits theaters and VOD on Friday, July 25.

Queen Latifah Set to Star in HBO’s Bessie Smith Biopic

queen-latifah-09_612x380Queen Latifah is set to play in the starring role of Bessie Smith in HBO’s upcoming biopic entitled “Bessie”.

The superstar will executive produce the project that will also star Michael K. Williams, Khandi Alexander, Mike Epps and Tika Sumpter.   The film will also feature actress Mo’nique, who will play blues legend Ma Rainey.

The film which is set to be released in 2015, will be written and directed by Dee Rees.

 

YaYa Dacosta Recreates Whitney Houston Album Cover for Biopic

Yaya DaCosta and Arlen Escarpeta will portray Whitney Houston and Bobby Borwn in Lifetime’s biopic ‘I Will Always Love You: The Whitney Houston Story.’

 

K. Michelle’s Web Series Has Launched. Watch Episode 1 here!

In the first installment of her new “Day In The Life” series, K, Michelle takes us with her on her journey to New York City. We see her preparing for her new album during meetings with her label, Atlantic Records, and her management company, MBK Entertainment. We also get a sneak peek of K. Michelle in the studio. She shows us her personal side when interacting with one of her fans on a phone call.

 When asked about why she chose to name her project “Rebellious Soul”, K. gives us a heartfelt answer. “It’s just me. I rebel. I’m a firecracker, I do what I want to do. My music is like that as well,” she says. “I rebel against things society tries to use to keep us in a box. Rebel against racism, rebel against judgement. Anything that makes you feel inferior as a woman.”

TV One to Launch New Reality Show: R&B Divas

Face it…you can’t turn away from reality shows these days.  So here’s another to add to your long list of guilty pleasures.  Set to debut on Monday, August 20th, TVONE will be launching a new series entitled R&B Divas featuring  Faith Evans, Nicci Gilbert, Keke Wyatt, Monifah Carter, Syleena Johnson. The show promises to take us inside the lives of these familiar faces , as they work, play and struggle to get their lives and careers back on track.  We’ll be able to follow the ladies each week as they deal with everyday struggles that we all face.

 

With all that being said, we just hope it will be a departure from the kind of shows we’ve been dealing with lately.  Time will tell!
