Beyonce’s Exotic Custom Wedge Sneakers

 

beyoncesneakers2Take a look at Beyonce’s new Isabel Marant wedge sneakers, custom designed by PMK.   The elaborate footwear, named “King Bey” is fit truly for royalty being made of exotic skins including stingray, ostrich, calf hair, crocodile and anaconda skins.

PETA has issued a statement regarding Beyonce’s new sneakers which reportedly retail for $550.

“These custom-made kicks come with a high price and it’s paid by the various animals who were beaten and skinned alive or cruelly farmed and killed. Although most people aren’t as familiar with the types of animals (snakes, stingrays, crocodiles, and ostriches) killed for this single pair of sneakers as they are with the cats and dogs we share our homes with, these animals are highly sensitive living beings who try hard to avoid capture and suffer enormously when trapped, netted, speared, and skinned alive.”

Heads turned at the 2013 Screen Actor’s Guild Awards when Kerry Washington graced the red carpet wearing a beautiful couture Rodarte gown.  We’ve noticed a pattern of Washington wearing white lately.  We think this trend is “white” hot.  Given the recent success the actress has been having, it’s safe for us to say that white may be her lucky color.  Keep it up, Ms. Washington…white looks great on you!

Image is Everything! 3 Keys to Building a Desirable Image

Life is full of ups & downs, but one thing remains true:  Image is everything!   The way you see yourself in good times and bad, will ultimately determine the outcome of any situation.    Here are three tips to building a desirable image:

  1. Believing in yourself is a powerful tool.  Self-confidence is a key element to building a desirable image.  There is an intangible quality that can’t be denied when you know you’ve got it going on.  Avoid being arrogant and cocky- those characterstics will only diminish your image.  However, being sure of yourself is as good as attracting bees to honey.
  2. Capitalize on your strengths.  Many people live a lifetime without reaching their full potential.  We all have strengths and weaknesses, learn to tap into your greatest resource – YOU!  Use your strongest personal assets to help catapult your successful image.
  3. Beauty and Brains is a packaged deal.  Physical beauty is somehow tarnished if you don’t have the brains to back it up.  Always put your best foot forward by exhibiting your strong mind.  Make an effort to gain as much knowledge as you possibly can, and your level of intelligence will shine all on its own.

 

 

Hydrate! Water Does a Body Good!

We’ve all heard it….you’re supposed to drink 8 – 10 glasses of water a day.  But how many of us actually achieve that?   Here are some important facts for you to consider before skipping a glass or two.  It takes very little fluid loss – only 1-2 % of the body’s total water content – to cause dehydration.  Every day, the average person loses at least two cups of water through breathing, another two cups through invisible perspiration and six cups through urination and bowel movements.  That’s ten cups a day!

Obviously, we need to ensure that we are replenishing our body’s need for water.   Staying hydrated has magnificent benefits for your skin, hair and nails.  Remember, beauty starts from within.  If you’re not getting enough water it will show up in parched strands of hair, a flaky scalp, dry skin and brittle nails.

 

Drinking lots of water can also block food cravings and reduce the appetite.  Here’s a trick for distinguishing whether you’re hungry or really just thirsty:  the next time you feel hungry, drink a glass of ice-cold water and wait a few minutes.  You may find that you’re no longer feeling hungry.  If you are still hungry, go ahead and have a light snack.  Start to learn your body’s signals for telling you when you’re hungry or just thirsty.  Learning this difference can help you stop eating those unnecessary calories which ultimately lead to weight gain.  By not drinking enough water, your body’s reaction is to retain the water it does have.  This hampers kidney functions and waste products accumulate.  Then your liver’s main function, which is metabolizing stored fat into usable energy, is minimized.  Experts have also found that dehydration can lead to a lack of concentration, impaired thinking and fatigue.

GaGa Goes Brown!

We are used to the ever changing looks and questionable fashion ideals from Lady GaGa, but her latest antic threw us for a loop! Lady Gaga tweeted a photo of herself as *GASP* a brunette!?!?  Surely, she’s experimenting with the new hair color that she’s calling “Louis Vuitton Brown” .  By now, everyone has seen pictures of the star in earlier days when she, a natural brunette, was a struggling artist performing in local clubs.  Well, looks like she’s going back to her roots….literally!  We’re not quite convinced that this look is going to stand the test of time, so we’ll see how long it willlast.  But one thing you can count on- Lady Gaga will definitely keep us guessing!

Alicia Keys is a “Girl On Fire”

Earlier today, Alicia Keys announced that she officially has chosen the image which will be used for the album cover.  We think she made a great choice.  The singer is looking undeniably cool, confident and couture as she personifies what it truly means to be a “Girl on Fire”, the fitting title for her forthcoming CD.

We love the whole look….the short hair, the accessories, black dress and the piercing stare.

Now that she has our attention,  we look forward to hearing the music she’s got lined up for us!
